While a technical or engineering degree can be beneficial, it is not mandatory. You should enjoy and excel at interacting with people and solving technical problems. You are a fast learner who quickly picks up new technologies and user/business contexts. Maintaining excellent attention to detail is essential. Strong communication skills are required, as our colleagues are located across the country; clarity and succinctness via phone, email, and chat are vital. Your excitement about data visualization technologies and understanding the importance of clean and usable business intelligence data models and reports is critical. A solid background in data technologies, being comfortable with consuming APIs, modeling data, and creating pipelines, is necessary. We also value a collaborative team environment over operating as a lone wolf.
Responsibilities
You will be the go-to person for all business intelligence within the Maddox family, acquiring an intimate knowledge of our business to quantify our performance by collecting data from various systems that manage our operations. Your work will enable us to make better decisions, prioritize our efforts more effectively, and celebrate our wins. You'll respond to internal user requests for insights and train them on using your deliverables. In addition, you will modify data pipelines in response to API changes and troubleshoot and repair faulty data flows and reports. On a proactive basis, you'll create views that make core business objects easy to query and business performance simple to quantify. You'll implement systems and processes that provide change management and data pipeline observability and provide training to internal business users on using data and reporting tools effectively. Comfort in troubleshooting data integrations from source systems will be necessary when required.

We have a stipend-supported BYOD mobile policy and use a variety of iOS and Android smartphones. Our exclusively cloud-based solutions allow our team to work from anywhere. We prefer enterprise-supported open-source projects integrated with single-focus, best-in-class SaaS products, over all-inclusive solutions with high vendor lock-in. Our current data stack includes MySQL on Google Cloud SQL, Google BigQuery, NodeJS and Typescript for custom integrations, Stitch Data, Google Datastream for ETL, and Google Sheets for ad-hoc reporting.
This is an on-site position that can be performed from any Maddox location. If you do not live within a commutable distance, relocation will be required. Infrequent travel to different Maddox facilities around the United States may also be required. The pay for this role starts between $120k and $160k, including bonuses and benefits, and is commensurate with experience.
