Requirements
Must:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree. Additional experience may substitute for a degree.
- Ability to travel 75%.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Suitability (To be eligible for the FAA Public Trust, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card Holders who have resided in the U.S. for the past 3 years).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suites.
Desired Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience working with Telco systems performing Network Troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in working with AutoCAD or similar tools.
- Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, and National Airspace System Equipment Tower.
- Knowledge of OSHA and general construction and electrical safety standards.
- Familiarity with NAS facilities such as ASR, ATCT, VOR, ARSR, and RCAG.
Responsibilities
As a Telecommunications Engineering Technician, I will support the daily operations of the FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) Program. My duties will include:
- Reviewing FAA databases and providing input and/or drafting Site Survey Reports (SSR).
- Conducting site surveys to provide input and/or draft Site Survey Reports.
- Coordinating schedules with SSC, ES, and Verizon personnel.
- Drafting Project Risk Plans (PRP) and Operational Risk Management Plans (ORMP).
- Generating and/or updating drawings, sketches, and artifacts.
- Drafting project plans for site preparation activities.
- Coordinating scheduled outages with SSC, Air Traffic, and Operations personnel.
- Developing transition plans and resolving schedule conflicts.
- Accompanying unbadged personnel at facilities and working with LECs on schedules.
- Developing briefings, information, and reports on District status.
- Collaborating with other Districts/SSC on interstate service flows, transitions, cutovers, and planning.
- Supporting District POC and SSCs with day-to-day work activities.
- Reviewing and providing comments on Verizon Site Specific Implementation Plans (SSIP).
Description
The ideal candidate will be part of the National Airspace Systems Integration Support (NISC) program at Leidos, working to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Central Service Area - Engineering Services Group located across the United States. I will be involved in designing, building, operating, and maintaining the FAA's next-generation communications platform while contributing to a dynamic, highly available, and secure enterprise network to support all the agency's mission-critical applications across the National Airspace System.
