Requirements

Must:
- Position requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain up to a Top Secret security clearance. - Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 15+ years of related, hands-on experience. Experience can be considered in lieu of the Master's Degree. - 10+ years leading software engineering teams recommending and developing technical solutions to complex problems. - 12+ years of front-end development experience in advanced JavaScript, ReactJS, typescript, CSS, HTML, and browser development tools. - Proficiency with database design (MySQL, PostgreSQL). - Experience with JavaScript package management and build tools such as npm, Vite, yarn, webpack. - Experience using JavaScript libraries such as React Bootstrap, Material UI, Axios, Moment.js, date-fns. - Experience with web application technologies and APIs. - Experience with geospatial programming. - Experience with Git/Bitbucket, Confluence, and JIRA for source code control, documentation, and ticket tracking. - Experience with Agile development methodologies. - Experience working in virtual machine environments. - Excellent written and verbal communications skills. - Experience presenting solutions to product stakeholders.

Responsibilities

- Work with the team and lead when needed to ensure successful software development and execution using Agile Scrum software development practices. - Lead subcontractor development. - Develop and design new web applications and modify existing applications in Java, SQL, JavaScript, and HTML5 in a Red Hat Linux environment. - Support definition and decomposition of epics based on technical discussion with the application stakeholders. - Contribute to defining sprint user story content based on understanding of inter-dependencies and prioritization of the backlog. - Analyze capability requirements and collaborate with scrum team members to produce testable implementations. - Collaborate with scrum team members to define required services and implement solutions using these services. - Develop user stories that can be implemented within a 2 to 4-week sprint, breaking them down into discrete tasks as appropriate. - Design, implement, test, and debug capabilities developed as part of user stories defined in the sprint plan. - Maintain design and coding standards and ensure standards are followed in your review of team member pull requests. - Participate in and lead sprint reviews demonstrating your sprint user stories and in sprint planning sessions. - Interact with the government customer, military and users, and other developers consisting of university and other DoD contractors as a unified team. - Lead and contribute to technical discussions for application development to support military analysis of the impact of large-scale damage to infrastructures. - Interface with the Leidos customer to present innovative solutions. - Define technical direction and tactical solutions, presenting to subcontractors and customer.

Description

We have a dynamic opportunity for a Lead Software Engineer to lead a Department of Defense software program consisting of both Leidos and non-Leidos staff. The program will consist of local and remote teams and require leading remote teams using agile methodologies tailored to individual projects. Experience in developing programs using multiple program languages in a web environment. Demonstrate experience in leading senior engineers and mentoring junior engineers. Understanding of DOD development and DoD military planning application. You will be joining an existing team that is successfully delivering for our customers and will employ your talents to continue to solve key problems of international importance. This next chapter includes integrating multiple infrastructure models to produce and operational tool used by combatant commands. Position will be responsible for developing the overarching product vision by interacting with the government customer and CoCOM end users and leading a team of software developers. This position will be worked from sunny San Diego, California. We offer a collaborative culture and support for your career goals and growth. You must be able to attain a DoD Secret security clearance and ultimately Top Secret clearance. Also, proficiency in React/Redux, Node.js; related JavaScript frameworks such as AngularJS, experience with containerization and deployment of web-based applications on DoD networks, familiarity with geospatial tools, and prior DoD security clearance or one in progress are considered preferred qualifications.
