Responsibilities
As the Information System Security Officer (ISSO), I am responsible for maintaining the appropriate operational security posture for our information systems. My duties include:
- Assisting the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) in fulfilling their responsibilities.
- Preparing, reviewing, and updating authorization packages.
- Ensuring approved procedures are in place for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying various types of hardware and media.
- Notifying the ISSM when changes occur that might affect authorization determinations.
- Conducting periodic reviews of information systems to ensure compliance with security authorization packages.
- Coordinating any hardware, software, or firmware modifications with the ISSM and AO/DAO prior to implementation.
- Monitoring system recovery processes to ensure security features and procedures are functioning correctly.
- Maintaining current and accessible security-related documentation for authorized individuals.
- Collecting, reviewing, and documenting audit records, including anomalies.
- Attending required technical and security training relevant to my duties.
- Executing the cybersecurity portion of self-inspections and providing security coordination for system assessment plans.
- Identifying cybersecurity vulnerabilities and assisting with implementing countermeasures.
- Preparing reports on the status of security safeguards.
- Performing ISSO duties to support in-house and external customers.
- Conducting security impact analysis activities for configuration management changes.
Description
- Experience: 2-5 years of related experience is required, with SAP experience preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience (4 years).
- Certifications: IAT Level II certification is required to start.
- Security Clearance: TS/SCI required; must be able to attain TS/SCI with CI Polygraph.
- Travel: 40+ percent may be required.
- Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
