Requirements
Must:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfy each essential duty. The requirements for this position include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical disciplines, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2-5 years of experience in local and wide area network implementation and maintenance.
- In-depth working knowledge of LAN/WAN technology with the ability to configure and resolve problems with Cisco hardware and software.
- Strong knowledge of Ethernet cabling, T1s, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills to work collaboratively in a team environment while establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
- Strong dedication to quality customer service with superior telephone etiquette and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, peers, and management.
- A sense of urgency, individual responsibility, and a willingness to adapt to constantly changing priorities.
- Ability to carry computer equipment up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
In this role, I will oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and administration of our organization’s production network infrastructure. My key responsibilities include:
- Configuring and resolving problems with Cisco hardware and software through a solid understanding of LAN/WAN technology.
- Providing first-level support for incidents requiring inclusion from the network team.
- Evaluating, designing, implementing, and supporting new network architecture and existing deployments.
- Engaging in project delivery work including device configuration, planning, and vendor coordination.
- Collaborating with users to understand their needs and working with IT personnel to develop effective system solutions for assigned applications.
- Developing and implementing network infrastructure changes through our established Change Management process.
- Acting as a technical resource for relevant network issues for other organizational units.
- Producing concise and timely project/network documentation, including detailed drawings.
- Managing network assets, including inventory, support agreements, vendor contracts, and related materials.
- Performing hardware and software upgrades to new and existing equipment as required.
