Requirements
Must:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 8 years of experience, or a master’s degree with 5 years of experience, or a PhD with 2 years of experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.
- Hands-on experience with commercial and open-source assessment tools, such as Elastic, Security Onion, Zeek, Suricata, and Wireshark.
- Experience with configuration management and modification of network devices (routers, switches).
- Familiarity with the DoD Risk Management Framework.
- Understanding of networking and security concepts, including the TCP/IP stack, routing, firewalls, intrusion detection, and prevention systems.
- Familiarity with IP networking concepts like VPNs, tunneling, layering, and defense in depth.
- Knowledge of commodity networking applications, including DNS and Active Directory.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell and Python to facilitate tool application.
- Ability to capture and analyze large amounts of network traffic.
- Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts to team members.
- An active Top Secret security clearance is required.
- Willingness to travel as frequently as two weeks every two months.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Network Security Analyst, I will lead a team responsible for identifying, analyzing, and remediating vulnerabilities and issues within networks of interest. My key activities will include conducting full packet capture (PCAP) collection and analysis, interpreting and hardening network device configurations, and employing on-network cyber assessment toolkits utilizing various sensors. I will oversee on-site surveys and mission planning, maneuvering within network infrastructures to isolate and characterize anomalies. I will also document observations and recommendations in reports, collaborate with other Battelle teams to simulate adversarial techniques within a lab, ensure the integrity of data collected, research emerging trends in networking technology, and provide technical briefings to stakeholders and leadership.
