Requirements
Must:
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) for new and existing systems
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Preferred: 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Preferred: Experience in Distributed System Design
Responsibilities
As a member of the Amazon MSK team, I will work on building and managing our Amazon Managed Streaming for Kafka (MSK) service, a fully managed service that simplifies building and running applications using Apache Kafka for processing streaming data. I will make contributions across the entire stack, including APIs, workflows of the MSK service, the core Kafka platform, and stand-alone tools that enhance the Kafka community's ability to operate Kafka efficiently. This unique position allows me to bridge the gap between open source and Amazon-internal software.
My tasks will involve designing and building new features, implementing performance improvements, investigating new technologies, prototyping solutions, and creating scalable services. I will collaborate with other engineers to construct a large-scale AWS service and work with senior leaders to define the team's roadmap and identify necessary design and code changes within the underlying open source platforms.
